Fr. Stephen Zukas joined the Navy after graduating Norwood High School in 1978. After six years serving in the United States Navy, four of them aboard the U.S.S. Halsey (CG-23) as a Machinist’s Mate, he was honorably discharged after 1 1/4 Western Pacific tours. He then entered St. John Seminary College. He graduated in 1988 and went on to St. John Seminary Theology School. Upon completion, he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest June 13, 1992 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in the South End of Boston. His first assignment was St. Margaret Parish in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. After five years there, he was sent by the Archdiocese of Boston to Vilnius University in Lithuania to study both the language and the customs associated with the church’s liturgical year. He was then appointed pastor of St. Peter Lithuanian Parish in South Boston for 17 years. In October - November 2013, he also served as Administrator of St. Ann Parish, Dorchester. During his last year, he was also parochial vicar of St. Agatha Parish, Milton. He was then appointed administrator of St. Elizabeth Parish, Milton, in 2015, serving there for three years before being appointed as pastor of the Collaborative of Medfield and Norfolk Parishes on June 1, 2018.
Father Steve is the son of Paul and Louise Zukas. His sister Barbara and her husband Sean Richardson reside in Norwood. They have a son, Brian. His brother Peter is married to his wife, Donna. They reside in Bellingham. Peter is known for making many a resident of Medfield happy by delivering their packages.
